Fast Track to ToolBook Instructor: Creating Interactive Content

Description

This four-day course is designed for anyone who wants to create online learning using ToolBook Instructor 2004. The course focuses on developing content using the productivity tools included with ToolBook, such as the Catalog objects, the Tool palette and the Actions Editor. You will gain a deep understanding of how ToolBook Instructor works, acquire best practices and strategies to be successful, and be able to develop sophisticated, easy-to-use online courses that get results!

Course Objectives

In this course, you learn how to:

bulletUse pre-built objects to save on hours of development time.
bulletUse navigation options to tailor interactivity to the student's individual learning style.
bulletCreate and use templates to obtain a consistent look and feel to courses.
bulletUse the Actions Editor to add more functionality to course objects.
bulletIncorporate and format text, import graphics, audio, and video multimedia, and use these throughout your courses to enhance student learning.
bulletExport your courses as DHTML Web pages and then publish them to a Learning Management System.
bulletAdd interactivity and evaluation of new knowledge by creating a variety of scored quizzes.

Course Outline

The course consists of the following sections:

bulletIntroducing ToolBook fundamentals, including adding objects using the Object Catalog and the Tool palette, modifying object properties, creating and modifying group objects, using Author and Reader levels to develop and review content, and adding and modifying pages and backgrounds.
bulletExploring navigation options, including hyperlinks and the automatic menu object.
bulletWorking with text in text fields and record fields, importing text, spell checking, and changing properties.
bulletIncorporating graphics effectively in your courses and using graphics already available within ToolBook Instructor.
bulletAdding a hotspot graphic object; using different types of links with the hotspot graphic objects.
bulletBuilding a template to increase efficiency and consistency during content development.
bulletUsing templates to create new books.
bulletAdding animation using action triggers and the Actions Editor.
bulletExpanding options for navigation using the Actions Editor; adding a custom object to the Catalog.
